Family policies

What families ask us most, in plain words.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

Watching class and recitals

Families wait in the lobby while class is on. Twice a year, in October and March, watch weeks open the studio door for a class. Seating at the spring performance is open, and recording follows the rule printed in the program.

What to wear and bring

Ballet classes ask for a leotard, tights and ballet slippers, with pointe shoes where a teacher has said so. Contemporary and conditioning ask for fitted practice clothes and bare feet or socks. Hair is up for every class and jewelry stays at home.

When to keep your child home

Please keep your dancer home with a fever, and after being sick until they have been well for a full day. Tell a teacher about any pain, before or during class, and we will adjust the work.

Drop-off and pickup

The front door opens half an hour before the first class. Dancers under 14 are handed only to an adult on the family's pickup list, and older dancers leave on the terms the family has written down.

Closures for weather and holidays

We follow the county schools on snow days and tell families by text and email by midday. Missed classes in a closure are made up in the same session where we can, and rehearsals are moved.

Screens and phones

Phones stay in bags during class. Dancers do not record in the studio. Teachers record short clips for correction only, and share them with the dancer and the family.

Absences and late arrival

Dancers commit to the season. If your dancer will miss a class or a rehearsal, please tell the front desk the day before. Repeated absences are a conversation with the director, never a surprise.
